Tutoring Instructors
The Pointy Pencil is currently hiring instructors for In-Person and Online. Majority of students are in the Avalon Park area, however, depending on the student's needs The Pointy Pencil will provide service to surrounding areas (i.e. Oviedo, Winter Park, Sanford). We are seeking education majors and individuals with experience in the educational field who have a zeal for student academic success. If you attend UCF or any surrounding colleges/universities or teach locally and you want an opportunity to do what you love - we'll give you that opportunity!
Math Tutor |
Requires tutors to have experience creating lessons which incorporate a variety of math strategies. Tutors must have the ability to adapt to differing levels of math computation and math comprehension skills, K-12.

Reading, Language Arts, Writing, & Phonics Tutor |
Requires tutors to have experience creating lessons which incorporate a variety of reading strategies. Tutors must have the ability to adapt to differing levels of phonemic awareness, phonics and reading comprehension, K-12.

Responsibilities
- Provide academic support and instruction to improve student performance including reteaching content, reviewing materials, studying for upcoming assessments, improving student organization, completing homework/projects, improving critical thinking skills
- Deliver personalized instruction and encourage interactive learning.
- Build strong relationships with students and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning by establishing achievable goals, implementing positive reinforcement, and increasing confidence.
- Communicate effectively with students and families regarding any concerns or questions that may arise.
- Tutors must be reliable, dedicated, and punctual.
